THE INSPIRATION: Ijo JESU

On a Sunday morning while the church musical band was ministering, from the piano where I was, I observed again something that had been on my mind for some time; a couple of years actually. I played while watching the church sing along and dance; and observed how a couple of people shuttle from a secular dance step to another. I smile and said to myself "that ain't right, even though it looked beautiful".

Dance steps and styles that have been introduced and made popular by secular artistes have been so accepted and practiced by so many in Churches today and even worst, we see how these dances have gained place in the choreography of "gospel music videos". Questions popped up in my mind and busied my thoughts along lines like:

"What does that say about purity in worshiping GOD?"

“Are we not to influence the world?”

“Why are we allowing the world to influence us?”

“Where is our light?"

Then, in the midst of my thoughts a new thought occurred to me … What if an effort to correct the anomaly is made musically? And with this new thought now occupying my mind, the instructional gospel dance song Ijo JESU was birthed.

Ijo Jesu to me is more of a movement within the body of CHRIST than just a song, as it seeks to address the earlier stated problem and to give life to the challenge to dance not as the world influences us to but as the spirit of GOD inspires us to dance. It is in this light that the Ijo JESU tour is tuned to kick off this year. We shall invite dance groups to compete among themselves as they come Up with versions of belly rubbing dances (as the Ijo JESU dance instruction says) and winners be handsomely rewarded. We just may be coming to your city this year (smiles).

So next time you are in church and the baseline or drum kick pushes you into a dance, just remember all the good things the lord has done and rub your belly as you appreciate God for leaving you with butterflies in the belly; Yes! "e don make belle sweet you" .

Hence the dance instruction: "You can dance anyhow but use your hand to be rubbing your belly".

THE INSPIRATION: Everybody Sing

Reading the Bible and realizing how much GOD has been, is, and will continue to do for man, despite man’s imperfections and sins touched me so much. Indeed with the Psalmist I wondered, what is man that GOD is mindful of him? To each of us in our frailness and imperfections, in our diverse situations and conditions, GOD is ever willing and always is good to us. HIS love leaves no one uncovered.

What about HIS mightiness, HIS awesomeness, and the way HE moves in our lives to bring us to an expected end? See how HE makes the impossible possible in our lives.

In a world where people celebrate vain things, it is very right to celebrate the one whom only truly matters in our lives. GOD truly deserves that we honour HIM.

I kept on pondering on these things and my heart had no option but to celebrate GOD. GOD really has me in HIS heart. This song really gets me emotional. There’s hardly a time I minister with the song that I don’t feel the presence of GOD with me. I have always at such times remember HIS many good to me and HIS overflowing blessings.

I must always celebrate GOD. GOD is my one true celebrity!
